Newaygo Power Paddle

June 10-11, 2023

Newaygo Nationals Association along with the Michigan Canoe Racing Association (“M.C.R.A.”) bring you the 18th annual PowerPaddle on the Muskegon River.  The PowerPaddle will take place on 2 days: Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11, 2023. Race HQ for this Event is located at the

DuChemin Park Pavilion (Croton Pond Boat Launch)
5439 Washington Street
Newaygo MI 49337. 

All registration will be the same morning of the race.  Races will begin BELOW the dam this year.  There will be NO PORTAGE.  Cash prizes will also be awarded, and racers and their families should stick around for the awards ceremony on Sunday.

Saturday, June 10: PowerPaddle (DAY 1) C1 RACES

9:00am – Registration Opens: DuChemin Park in Croton (Croton Pond Boat Launch) Race HQ
9:45am – Racer Meeting; (Race HQ)
10:10am- C-1 Women Start Below Dam
10:15am – C-1 Men  Start Below Dam
*Heats may be combined
​12:00 – 1:00pm – Racers finish at Henning Park

Sunday, June 11: PowerPaddle (DAY 2) C2 RACES

8:30am – Registration Opens: DuChemin Park in Croton (Croton Pond Boat Launch) Race HQ
9:25am – Racer Meeting; (Race HQ)
9:50am – C-2 Start Below Dam
*All C-2 Boats single heat start
11:30am – 12:30pm – Racers Finish at Henning Park
1:15pm – PowerPaddle Day 1 & 2 Awards at Henning Park

OTHER INFORMATION:

Attendance at pre-race meetings is mandatory. Each contestant must have a US Coast Guard approved PFD in their craft at all times while competing in paddling Events. 

Inclement Weather: Before Event starts, if thunder is heard and/or lightning seen from an approaching thunderstorm, the racers, race helpers, and spectators shall take proper shelter and wait until immediate threat has dissipated or Race HQ has issued the ALL CLEAR. Once a race has started, if lightning is seen and/or you hear loud thunder; get off the water immediately and seek proper shelter. In the event of a WEATHER EMERGENCY the race may be called off and the race clocks may be stopped. 

Waiver of Liability: All racers/participants must read, understand and sign a Waiver to be allowed to compete in any of the Events associated with the PowerPaddle.
